Getting the Best Out of Your Ultrasound Session at Mama Me Time Spa

Posted October 1st, 2024

What is an elective prenatal ultrasound?

Mama Me Time Spa only offers elective ultrasounds. An elective prenatal ultrasound is an ultrasound that a mother chooses to undergo herself.  A medical diagnostic ultrasound is one that a physician/ midwife orders for diagnostic purposes.

When Is The Best Time To Schedule My 3D Ultrasound?

Between 18 and 32 weeks is the ideal time to see your baby. Before 24 weeks you can see more of your baby at one time. Between 25 and 32 weeks, facial features become easier to define due to developing fat layers. Women with twins should visit around 27 weeks, as twins have less space. If you plan on having only one 4D ultrasound, the best time to come is between 27-32 weeks. If you plan on visiting twice during the same pregnancy, we suggest coming for the 1st session at 21 - 24 weeks and the 2nd session at 27 - 32 weeks.

What Factors Determine Image Quality?

The most important factor is the position of the baby. Other critical factors are the amount of amniotic fluid (the more the better) and the amount of tissue between the probe and the baby. If the baby is persistently looking face down (towards your back), it may be difficult to see the baby's face. Every baby is different, and it is fun to see how your session will show your baby’s blooming personality.

Can I Bring Family And Friends?

Absolutely! This is an exciting time and we want your family and friends to be able to share in the excitement of seeing your new baby. Depending on your desired package, we can accommodate 4-10 guests.

What Kind Of Ultrasound Machine Do You Use? Is This Type Of Ultrasound Safe?

We use the GE Voluson E8, a top-of-the-line ultrasound machine for obtaining 3D and 4D images. The GE Voluson E8 is a similar machine, and as safe as those used at your doctor's office. Ultrasound technology has been the subject of hundreds of clinical studies over the past 30 years and has not been shown to cause any harm to the mother or baby. We urge you to speak with your doctor about the safety of ultrasound.

How long does the 3D 4D prenatal ultrasound session take?

Depending on the package you choose, the session will last between 15 and 30 minutes. However, we require our guests to arrive 10-15 minutes for intake and 10-15 minutes after the scan for printing pictures and uploading baby's heartbeat, images, or videos on keepsakes if applicable.
